Cassis Orange - Cassis Orange

Okay so i think this EP is really rad. It's kind of Casiotoneforthepainfullyalone-ish, if you're into that. Basically i guess what im saying is that it has piano and electronic drums. Neat!
'Kotzebue' is particular is a really awesome song and my personal favourite, but the whole EP is definitely worth listening to because it is really good.

DIG IT

Palpitation - I'm Happy Now

Swedish pop-tronica (?) band, similar to Letting Up Despite Great Faults. They're less shoegaze-y than LUDGF (haha what a terrible acronym) but have a similar tone. Beautiful hushed vocals, music that is somehow simultaneously upbeat and kinda sad. It's music that would feel perfectly placed in an indie movie that crosses that interesting zone where intense depressive sadness and intense introspective satisfaction and contentment become the same thing. Maybe that's just me, who knows. Like when you weren't expecting it to go well, and it didn't, but it didn't turn out any worse either. And all you can do is laugh.

I've often wondered how a country as small as Sweden (<10m people) has the time to create so many fantastic musicians. The musician per capita value must be off the charts.

I'd also like to share the album cover for their new album, because i REALLY like the cover and the new album is also very very good. Even better than this one. But the new album is only a month old and i try not to share albums too close to their release dates.

Black Bear - The Cinnamon Phase

It's been two week, but i've been lazy. Plus no new music i've found has really caught my ear, so to speak. So i went into stuff i've had for a while.

Really cool lo-fi album from a guy named Sam Beebe. Kinda similar to Casiotone For The Painfully Alone in a way. Maybe Casiotone mixed with Foot Ox somehow. Regardless, it is pretty cool so if you like the way i described it feel free to have a listen!

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - Etiquette (2006)

Owen Ashworth, aka Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, has been making music on a Casio keyboard since 1997. The perfect example of the 'indietronica' genre described below.
He's reasonably well known now, and while i admit this probably isn't for everyone, i really like it. Autumn/winter music for sure: pleasantly melancholy and bitter lyrics, synths, and an ever-present electronic drum machine.

Letting Up Despite Great Faults - Letting Up Despite Great Faults (2009)

Letting Up Despite Great Faults, from Los Angeles, is a band that probably falls under the category of 'indietronica'. Normally i hate portmanteau genre names but i think this one works. Electronic drum machines, synths, heartfelt lyrics and a melancholy sound. It's something different, and that's always good, right?
